The Bureau of Mineral Resources Development (BMD) basically provides two types of civic services. Namely- for the purpose of exploration of mineral resources apart from oil and gas (1) for exploration license and for the purpose of extraction or procurement (2) mine lease and quarry lease.

The Bureau of Mineral Resources Development (BMD) currently operates in accordance with the Mines and Mineral Resources (Control and Development) Act, 1992 (Act No. 39 of 1992) and the Mines and Mineral Resources Rules, 2012.
What mineral resources have been discovered in Bangladesh so far?
Apart from oil and gas, the mineral resources discovered so far in Bangladesh are: coal, hard rock, common rock/sand mixed rocks, plain, silica sand and mineral sand.
Does the Bureau of Mineral Resources Development (BMD) lease Balumahal?
No; As the general Balumhal is out of the scope of BMD from 26.12.2004, no lease is issued from the bureau.
What does quarry mean?
Quarry refers to a place where minerals are naturally deposited on the surface or sub-surface of the land and from where minerals can be found at a maximum vertical depth of 5 (five) meters without excavation.
How are common stone/sand mixed stones, silica sand and plain quarries gazetted?
The Bangladesh Geological Survey (GSB), the only government agency in the country to conduct exploration of mineral resources other than oil and gas, has conducted a survey and identified areas rich in common rock/sand, silica sand and plain soil and declared them as gazetted quarries.
What is silica sand, where in the country is silica sand found?
According to Rule 2 (25) of the Mining and Mineral Resources Rules, 2012, sand containing more than 90% silicon-dioxide (SiO2) is called "silica sand". Silica sand is found in Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Sylhet and Comilla districts of Bangladesh.

An applicant can apply not more than 5 (five) applications at the same time.

You can deposit Earnest Money or Security Deposit by Pay-Order or Bank Draft from any Scheduled Bank.
How do I apply for a quarry lease of khas ledgered land?
If the tender notification is called by the concerned Deputy Commissioner, the application has to be made as per the terms of the notification.

Under 2 (two) years.
